The ever reliable, and, let's face it, godlike Tom Coates has posted a first-look review of the new Mac OS update, Panther. I've been debating whether to get this upgrade myself (yes, I am a totally unashamed Mac-lover, hate me all you want), and the consensus seems to be that while the upgrade is a big step in the right direction, it needs some polish, which will probably dealt with in the free updates as per usual. I'm sold, not that I needed a reason to get it anyway. After all, I love Macs, I must be mad...

Oh, get the upgrade. I'm absolutely thrilled with it. The Expose' thingummy is very cool to watch, and so is the Fast User Switching. The Finder improvements are pretty slick, too. Get the upgrade.

Be cautious of the 1.3.1 update. The Panther install itself was beautiful and simple, but Mail started to crap out on me as soon as I downloaded 1.3.1 the night before last.

oh god, panther's great. get it if you haven't. it's really really nice. speeds up absolutely everything.
